PRESS YOUR WAY
INTO THE CLUB
Three percentile tiers. Two review paths. One lift. Submit your bench, qualify for your tier, unlock the gear reserved for those who own the bar.
SUBMISSION STANDARDS
This list is not exhaustive. The review team reserves the right to request resubmission for any reason, including but not limited to issues not explicitly outlined here.
Lift Submission
Lifters submit a single barbell bench press at the tier they are applying to. The load on the bar must meet or exceed the tier's qualifying weight.
Video Requirements
- Clip must include both the concentric and eccentric portions of the lift.
- Clip must provide an unobstructed view of at least one sleeve of the barbell.
- Clip should allow a clear view of the lifter throughout the lift.
- Clip should be free of edits that impact the continuous view of the lift.
Weight Loading Clarification
Lifters must include in the form submission the exact weight loaded on the bar, including the bar itself, collars, and all plates.
Clip Start & Lifter ID
The clip must begin with the lifter in a seated position on the bench, then transition into the lift setup in one continuous take. This serves as basic lifter identification and prevents the resubmission of unrelated clips.
Bar Visibility
Both full sleeves of the barbell must remain visible throughout the lift. Obstructed views of either sleeve will not be accepted.
Spotter Conduct
A spotter may assist with the unrack and re-rack of the barbell. The spotter must not make contact with the barbell at any point during the pressing motion (descent, pause, or ascent).
Permitted & Prohibited Equipment
- Permitted: Lifting belt, wrist wraps and wrist supports, elbow sleeves, standard t-shirts or compression shirts, sleeveless shirts or tank tops, lifting shoes, chalk.
- Prohibited: Bench shirts, slingshots or any banded press aids, elbow wraps, hoodies or any thick / loose-fitting upper-body garments (which could conceal non-permitted equipment), jeans.
Unrack
The barbell must be unracked with a full extension in the elbows before being lowered.
Chest Contact & Pause
The barbell must make contact with the chest and come to a complete, visible pause before the press is initiated. Touch-and-go reps will not be accepted.
Press
The barbell must be pressed back through a full extension in the elbows before being returned to the j hooks.
Glute Contact
Contact between the glutes and the pad of the bench must be maintained throughout the entire lift.
